REJECTion

I got my first rejection letter...well an email from University of Missouri and it sucks a lot. I just chugged a Mike's Hard Pink Lemonade and my head is buzzzing right now. I told my parents and they are both bummed more so for me. My mom was like they are idiots for passing you up. Yup they are because the moment I took my first breat everything I did was to strive to the day I became a veterinarian. That really doesn't make much sense but basically my whole life everything I have done has been to the day I get DVM after my name.
I pretty much i dont know it sucks. I am tired and the next two and half weeks at work are going to be sooooo busy. Happy Holidays..ha well at least I get paid double on christmas. Ill be buying my christmas present to myself after the holidays. I work on new years eve and new years day as well.
I will be tired but I will be taking lots of naps and clients bring in a ton of food for us during the holidays. We've already gotten a lot of food...cookies chocolate pizza muffins etc.

And the Beat Goes On...

Last week was one busy hectic week at work. Any holiday is busy because we are booked and not to mention I worked a double shift on the busiest day! ahhh i was so dead after work i came home and skipped dinner and just crashed. Saturday, the next day, i went on a major shopping trip which i have not done since June when we went to the outlets in New Hampshire. I thought i deserveed it after all the hard work ive been doing. Throughout the day I kept saying oh I shouldnt buy this and spend all this money and my moms like look you dont do this often and you deserve it. I got lots of things and all were on nicely on sale. Things i needed and didnt need like more candles haha.
A co-worker fractured her elbow Monday so I will be working tomorrow in her place instead of my day off meaning overtime=more $$ which i need with my two loan payments coming up and i will be working 7 days in a row but there are not many dogs here this week and weekend at all so it shouldn't be soo bad.
Missing my family christmas party Saturday..oh darn..haha and i get Christmas Eve off:)) I am sooo excited about that and I just work Christmas Morning which is the longest shift and I get paid double so whoot.

My brother is coming home home around February 3 and I cant wait to see him then he will be off to Jamaica with his fiance and getting married ahhh! Then they both will be moving to Hawaii:(

Working 10-7 althought it might be closer to 6 tomorrow and of course it's going to be snowing on the day I was supposed to not work. whatever its just going to be a dusting. Seriously the ladies I work with get me through the long days of work many days. Ohh  I also bought some painting supplies that was on sale and I am excited to, when i get the free time Sunday or saturday night to start painting my next picture. I know exactly what I am doing:)

Terrified of Rejection

I am constantly thinking about my letters from the vet schools I applied to. As it gets closer I am freaking out wondering what do I do if i dont get in to any? Not only will i be very upset and feel like Im not good enough my parents will be do especially after all the money we spent and I have worked so hard . If the last thing i do on this earth is become a veterinarian I would die happy. no joke.BUT i have to think POSITIVELY!
In other news work is going well and I am learning new things every day. Like today i went to a lunch and learn about Hills prescription diet t/d which is for teeth. I am deff feeding my cats that food from now on. I love my new friends I am making there as well! Not a day goes by that those ladies dont make me double over and laugh at work:)
Nothing going on my other life, getting the weekend off and getting a haircut this weekend. that's about it. And probably Doctor Who Marathon while I paint:) (now that i own all the seasons!)

I work 12-7 tomorrow. Talk about sleeping in:) whoot haha then the next day its 6-2 so that makes up for it. i miss going out but on the other side now that i work so much and its a lot of physical exhausting work i prefer to stay in unless i have like two days off in a row or going out involves going to a friends house and staying in haha.

Getting to Know Me

I'm sure by now you can tell a few things about me like my love for animals and movies and things like that but i thought I'd tell well whoever is reading my posts if anyone a little more about myself.

I live in Maine and have my whole life. It is a beautiful state but i am ready to stretch my wings and see more of what the world has to offer. I grew up with only cats because my dad is not a dog person which is a damn shame. I love outdoor activities which Maine is the perfect state to be in for that. Things like kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing, etc. I grew up camping with my family every summer so its special to me. I went sea kayaking for the first time in April of this year and it was amazing! I would love to do it again.
I'm also a huge movie buff like big time. I could watch the same movie more than once a day in a day and I have before. My favorite romance movie is Titanic and favorite series is Harry Potter just to throw a couple favs out there. My favorite tv series has to be Charmed. I own the whole series and watch it over and over and never get tired of it. I love to read a lot! I have a whole huge Tupperware container full of books that I need to read and yet I keep buying them. Lately its been Jodi Picoult and right now I am reading Eat, Pray, Love.
I am addicted to video games as well. I play them a lot, all different kinds. I grew up playing Quake and Doom haha.
I like to bake, I used to be horrible at it but I have become pretty damn good at it. I used to make a lot of boxed things now I am making things from scratch. I made gluten free muffins the other week and they came out spectacular!
My favorite type of food is Italian, i could eat it every day. My favorite meal is breakfast. I never skip it no matter what. My favorite restaurant is either Olive Garden or Davinci's. Although Fire and Ice in Boston was the coolest place ever but I have only been once so i cant say its my favorite.
I like to watch sports not play them. I took dance for 15 years. I have had one very serious relationship in my life and that didn't go over too well unfortunately.
I have a cat tattoo. I plan on getting one more but not until after i graduate vet school and it will go on my other shoulder. 
I have one older brother and he is in the army and currently deployed for the third time in Afghanistan and i miss him a lot. He will soon be married though:) and i really like my future sister in law.

Early to Bed..Early to Rise

I try really hard on the night of my day offs to stay up late and play video games or watch movies but as soon as the time reaches 9:30-10pm I am ready for bed and my eyes start to close. It kind of sucks because I haven't been able to do the things I like to do like reading, gaming, or well anything else really.  So on my days off i try to do as much as possible even though that usually doesn't happen. On a positive note because my job is such physical labor I am definitely toning up which makes me really excited.
I received my first TV series I bought on amazon Boy Meets World all seven seasons for $50. I should be getting my Doctor Who ones in a few days:) Yes i have a movie/some tv shows addiction. If i could i would watch movies all day every day. That's probably the most exciting thing in my life right now. I did get to see my best friend this past weekend and we saw Pitch Perfect (go see the movie it is amazing) therefore i did get out of my house haha.
No new news on vet schools. That will be a slow process. As you can see my life is so very exciting. Well at least I am going to Salem this Saturday that will be a fun experience to write about. Maybe I'll add a picture or two as well. Well since I've been up since 8am I guess i will get my butt moving and take a shower after i watch HIMYM.

And the days go on

Not much has happened since my last post. Been busy at work, just last saturday i worked 14 hour because of Columbus day on 3 hours of sleep may i add. SO since then I have been sleeping a lot. Just today i slet from 10:30 to 9am then at 11:30am took a 2 hours nap. Even in my dream i was like damn ive been sleeping a long time haha.
The Fryeburg fair was a lot of fun even though it rained most of the time. Thats okay though i got to see lots of cool things and eat fair food which tastes good going down but not digesting haha. My grad schools have recieved all of my stuff so now i just wait.
Bought eat, pray, love because my friend told me it was really good and i trust her judgment on stuff like that. I also bought the entire boy meets world series for $50 on amazon. and still waiting for the doctor who series to show up that i bought on amazo; the david tennant years plus all the specials.
Something cool that happened at work i got invited to go to Salem next Saturday with my coworkers! I have always wanted to go especially around Halloween:) Ill have to watch Hocus Pocus before i leave. Halloweentown movies are playing this week on Disney:) oh and i bought Iron Man on blue-ray the other day. It looks like im splurging money but its like weeks in between buying those items. Got paid topday though and i was talking to my dad about visitng my best friend Sarah in San Francisco after 6 months when i get my weeks vacation and hes like i dont see why you wont have the money to go:) whooot that woul be awesome even though she would be working unless she can get a few days off!

I saw organs from a Necropsy yesterday and it was soo coool! it smelled a bit but still really awesome haha. I cant wait to go to vet school:) Maybe I'll meet my husband over a dissected horse or something haha

First Times a Charm?

I got all my reccomendation letters in and the VMCAS has been completed and will be mailed to the school soon.
I have one application left which I will be sending in tomorrow and Gre's as well.
After spending all this money and effort into applying it would be nice to get an interview for at least one of the schools..especially since my parents helped to pay for most of the expenses. Maybe get in the FIRST TIME.
Work has been going well. We have our busy days and our not so busy days which are nice too. Today was a not so busy day which was nice. Got 8 hours in. Last two weeks I have had just over 40 hours which is nice. My new car is getting almost 50 miles to the gallon which is awessome!! WHOOT
I am going to the Fryeburg Fair next week with me mum:) I am very excited because she has never been and I have only been once with my ex (wasnt ex at time)
Yesterday at work there was a husky mom and her two puppies:) SOO FREAKIN CUTE i couldnt even stand it seriously. Everytime i walked by i would just go crazy haha

I can't believe September is almost over. Working all the time makes life go by fast. All i do is work and sleep. I dont go out anymore which sucks because i got cute summer clothes in June that i barely got to wear..hmmph
Now im off to watch a ton of tivoed shows starting with Doctor Who:)

I can almost taste it

I sent in two of my four supplemental applications and i am almost done my third one and the fourth is getting there. I am mailing out my transcripts Monday and sending out my GRE scores as well. I am almost done with the whole process. It will be a sigh of relief but also the waiting game will be starting as well.
I went in to town today with me mum and i got 4 more scrub tops (goodwill and uniform store) and 2 more pants (salvation army and a uniform store) I also went to Kohls and bought a really comfy pair of sweat pants, since i never go out any more i might as well spend money on clothes that i wear around the house since thats all i do when I am not working.and a new wallet, plus some cute earrings and a really awesome elephant ring!
I closed by myself three times this week because the person I was working with got sick so it's been a long week at work but I am getting used to doing everything by myself at night since i will be having to do it Wed. I now have a key and an alarm code (before my 90 days are up) so i can open and close by myself. I feel pretty special.

I made Gluten free banana peanutbutter chocolate chip muffins today and they came out really good! i cant wait to bring them in to work Monday. Im bringing in a couple for me and Emily tomorrow since we are working all day. Have to be up by 4:30am whoot haha and the same for Monday. Im glad i get Tuesday off to sleep all day.

Better go fold my laundry so i can go to bed tonight.

On My Way

I slept 12 hours last night because well i was exhausted after a long couple days of work and I woke up to one of my co workers texting me asking to cover her shift because shes been sick with a bad cold (something like that) and she would switch with me during the week but I was exhausted and sore all over and i needed to work on my supplemental applications all day which I have in fact been doing ALL DAY minus my 2 hour nap (thats how exhausted ive been). I paid for all my applications except one because I have three essays to do and then we will pay after I've finished. I added Washington State University to my list of schools. I bought lobster and clams for dinner tonight which was for celebrating that I got a job. I also registered my new car which cost an entire paycheck..ouch. Ive only gotten two pay checks so far. Thankfully this coming paycheck will be nice and big thanks to labor day and over time.  I also got informed that the vet tech wrote my letter of recommendation today. I have one left and that is my former professor so i know it will be done by the deadline.
Back to work tomorrow. 10-7pm.

So it has been done

Sunday I had the day off and I spent it by making myself a pay pal account and half.com account. Made my first purchase online on half.com. I bought a Jodi Picoult book for 0.99 cents plus 3.95 shipping. I also put up a few video games up for sale that I dont want anymore. I sent in my main application, the VMCAS. It cost $300 to send them to three schools and that didn't include sending GRE's and supplimental applications.
Work has been going really well, I love my job and everyone is impressed by how fast im catching on. Unfortunately today ten minutes into my hour drive to work my car decided to kick the bucket so I had to call work and tell them that I could not make it. I felt really bad for not coming in. I haven't even been working there for a month so now my dad has to get me a new car in one day. I am going to work tomorrow my dad has to bring me and he will be car searching while i work for 7 hours. He said something small with good gas mileage. I appreciate that he's doing this because i don't have a lot of money right now for a new car. I mean it wont be new new but used and in decent condition. I thought that my car would last a bit longer but I guess all the driving just killed it. I really hope it works out with the whole car thing.
It feels wierd not to be going back to UNE with my frands because we would have been moved in by now. I miss them tons!

Treating Myself

I went into town today to treat myself for getting this new job and plus I just got my first paycheck so it had to happen. I treated my mom and I to Starbucks and i bought her some puzzles at Goodwill. Then i bought Jason Mraz's new album (he's my favorite artist, I have been listening to him since he first started) and bought a video game I have been wanting for like three years now, Left 4 Dead. I also bought one of my best friends a little something since it was her birthday last week. My mom got me The Hunger Games as a treat. I also bought my hamster some new treats because he doesn't like the ones I have now that my other hamster loved.
Working tomorrow 6am until well probably 7 or so. It was nice having these last two days off, I got to catch up on sleep. Forgot also bought 2 candles at Bath & Body Works. They were 50% off then i had a coupon for 20% off entire purhcase whoot!
My grandparents are here for a visit and I am trying really hard not to take a nap because I want to be tired enough to fall straight to sleep tonight around 10 so i can get at least 6 1/2 hours of sleep for my long day tomorrow. I get to work with my cute co-worker next saturday and it's his last day too. It's a shame he's only part time and i only got to work with him twice so far.

Paycheck

I got my first paycheck today. It's only for the first week so my next paycheck will be bigger but still whoot! A big chunk of it will go to gas since I fill up once a week so far but it may be more if I start working everyday because we are losing a few people starting Septemeber.
 I really hope the vet technician has not forgot about my letter of recomendation. I emailed her to remind her of the deadline. I haven't heard back from her yet. I cant afford to lose her because I need a min of three and I have three so yea. Crossing my fingers that she doesn't back out and I feel like she would have told me too if she was going to not write one. She knows how to reach me.Anywho Ive been working 7-2 all week and I like it because it goes by fast. So 7-2 tomorrow then all day Sunday (because we are going to have a full house this weekend)

Four bruises and some puppy scratches

to end my first week of work! Yesterday was the longest day. It was three of us working and we thought it would go pretty fast with three of us but then stuff happened and we all got split apart and i ended starting to walk dogs by myself so we ended up staying until 8pm (was up at 4:30am) and got an hour break in between which we got to sit and eat. I had subway and a starbucks smoothie. My entire body was dead but i would do it again. I got home at 9pm and warmed up my dinner and then showered because i was pretty smelly and dirty and crashed into bed at 10pm. I was out like a light and slept for 11 1/2 hours. Got up went to church then my church's picnic then came home and took a 2 1/2 hour nap. I feel a better now. So im going to play some xbox since i havent all week. I have Monday off then i work Tuesday-Thursday and Friday Saturday off then I work Sunday.
I will be starting to send in my Grad School applications next week.

First Week of Work

I started work Monday and i worked from 7-2. I have to wake up at 5am to get to work for 7 because it takes me an hour to get there but I dont mind. Every other week I work 4 days then 5. So far its a lot of work but i love it! I have met almost everyone and they are so nice and welcoming. I already feel like im a part of the "gang" haha. I work one weekend day every week and i have to be there for 6am which means i wake up at 4am ahh! but the next day i have off so i can catch up on sleep.
The dogs are so wonderful and i look forward to getting to know the regulars so i can just know automatically how they are and their owners. I get paid bi-weekly so ill get paid the week after next

I Got It

I just got a call and I was offered the job!! Yes i accepted right away even though when I told my dad he's like i hope you didn't accept it yet. Uhm yea i did they need to train someone asap because someone is leaving soon and it's their busiest time of the year so deal with it. It's my decision not his. I really need this. I am betong excited right now and my dad can't do anything about it. Although i really hope the pay is at least $9 or up or else i am screwed. My mom said $10 and I'm like um do you know what kind of job this is, not that kind.
I have until 6pm before i get to hear the yelling from my dad about this at least my moms proud of me jeese

Job Interview-Part 2

The interview went really well and I was asked to come back next week to job shadow! I have never done this before so I'm really excited. The interviewer seemed really impressed with my experience that I have and of my goals in applying to vet school. There is one other Kennel Assistant that is also applying to vet school and he is the one i get to job shadow. I have to be there at 7am which means i have to leave before my parents even get out of bed, holy smokes thats early! BUT i am really excited, i hope i get this job! The vet hospital is huge! the biggest one I have ever seen.
My VMCAS application is pretty much done but I want to wait to send it in to see if I get the job because then i can add more experience.

Job Interview

So i got a call yesterday for an interview as Kennel Assistant for Bath-Brunswick vet hospital! I missed the call so i have to call Monday to set a date but still whoot!
I told my dad and hes like "you'll find out the commute isnt worth it because of the traffic to Bath Iron Works.." awesome thanks for the postive reinforcment.
maybe they wont even pick me because i have to travel so far or whatever. A job is a job and its full time at a vets hospital! more experience plus being paid with benefits is great. yeah its an hour away but ill suck it up.
Adopted a hamster yesterday:) i named him Gus like the mouse in Cinderella. He likes to climb and chew on the cage even though i bought him mini wood chews. He likes his little hut we bought him. I want to make sure he is warm in the winter.
Working on my San Francisco scrapbook today, Golden Gate Bridge page which will be 4 pages.
One of my best friends is moving San Francisco in like a week and im so jealous of her and really excited for her to be able to enjoy, to me, the most wonderful and exciting cities in the world.

Still Job Hunting..

I really need to find a job. With my loan payments coming up we have to cut back on a lot of things. Goodbye cellphones, netflix, and well less heat in the winter. God only knows what else my parents have not told me everything that we are cutting back on. Im starting to apply to jobs farther away from me, up to an hour but only if they are full time.
I would apply to jobs that arent in my field but i don't have any references that would help. My references include a vet, vet tech, and my internship supervisor from the animal shelter. How is that going to help when i apply to Kohls or a bookstore or something.

Volunteering..would rather work

I just got an email from VMCAS saying that the Veterinarian has done the evaluation. I have to now go over my personal statement and fine tune everything.
I started volunteering at the Kennebec Valley Human Society for more animal experience although i don't really get to do that much..not as much as i did at the Animal Welfare Society at least. I miss the clinic a lot. I also wish i was working at a shelter instead of volunteering. I really need the money..ugh. Im sick of not having a job while i keep seeing how everyone else who has graduated is getting a job and the common theme is none of them live in Maine..hmm well besides my other friends but it's not hard to find a teaching job anywhere especially maine.

So Relieved

So i officially have all three people agreeing to write me a letter of recommendation. I am beyond relieved that I have all three. I was really worried one of them wouldn't. I wish that I didn't live so far from Portland that i could meet with my professor but its an hour and half away.
I was looking up the University of Tennessee, one of my choices last night, and non residents have to have a a 3.2 GPA and i have a 3.17..of course.
So i looked into other schools and decided University of Missouri and read through there guide and the school looks beautiful from the pictures and sounds fascinating so that's my new choice. Worked on my personal statement last night. I'm on my third page now.
Going away this weekend to my grandparents. Will work more on my application but also going to a baby shower and the mall and hot tub:)

New Blog

HEY!
Normally I used livejournal and have been for ages and will continue to use it but I have decided to start a new one to talk about my progress in becoming a veterinarian. Hopefully one day a post will talk about my first day of graduate school.
I recently just graduated from UNE last month. Applied for some jobs but so far no luck. It is really hard to find a job especially where I live. Currently I have started to apply to graduate schools. I am working on getting recommendation letters right now and have 2 out 3 people who have agreed to writing them. Working on the personal statement is hard. The max words is 5,000. Seriously? It's also really expensive to apply to vet schools. It will probably cost me close to $400 because VMCAS costs an arm and a leg. It would be nice to get into a school the first time around though.
